What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Calvary Gospel Chapel based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

Scripture

We believe the Old and New Testaments alone to be the inspired, revealed Word of God, without error, authoritative and sufficient in all matters pertaining to life and godliness.

God

We believe there is only one God and Sustainer of all, existing in three distinct Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Co-equal in nature and authority and possessing the totality of the divine essence.

Jesus Christ & Salvation

We believe Jesus is the eternal, infinite God-man, except without sin, born of a virgin. He is the perfect savior having died, was buried and rose again the third day. He is exalted and will imminently return. We believe that salvation is entirely a work of God's grace, by faith in the substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ, on the Cross.

Man & Sin

We believe man was created by God, in His image with mind, will and emotion but has marred through sin. Man is guilty of original and personal sin and therefore is totally depraved and condemned.

Holy Spirit & Church

We believe the Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit of God, personal and possessing the entirety of the divine essence. He indwells, seals and empowers every believer. We believe the church is the fellowship of all true followers of Christ, who make up the Body and Bride of Christ. It is universal (or invisible) in scope and local (visible) in purpose, practicing Baptism and Communion.

Future State & Last Things

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the wicked, to judgment and righteous, to reward. We believe in the imminent rapture (Pre-tribulation, Pre-millennial), the Great tribulation, the bodily and visible second coming of Christ and His Millennial reign on the earth, the final judgment and eternal bliss.

Satan & Demons

We believe Satan is a powerful living spirit created by God but now fallen and desperately wicked. He is opposed to all that is good and is the avowed enemy of Christ, Christians and the gospel. Satan is aided by myriads of fallen angels, or demons.

Ressurection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.
